Net-Zero Construction

As a carpenter and Licensed General & Solar Contractor, I built and remodeled homes for my clients.  I dreamed of one day being able to build my own home. Eight years ago, I began working with a gifted architect to move that dream to reality, and for the last 4.5 years I have been building my own home.

 My goal was not only to build the house of my dreams but to demonstrate that we can build houses more carefully in this country and significantly reduce their energy demand. Despite all of the Republican claims to the contrary, climate change is real, and the 12,000 hours I have spent building this home represent my commitment of time, energy and money to contribute to finding ways to reduce our carbon footprint.  Homes in America currently consume 21% of our total energy demand. When the solar panel system is fully installed on my home, I believe the house will generate more electricity than it uses.
